Adam Smith

Dementia Explained has been developed by Alzheimer’s Research UK to help children and teenagers understand dementia, how it affects someone and how this could impact their lives. These simple explinations, and clear messages could also help carers and care home residents to explain to their grandchildren what is happening to them, it may also help others with Learning Difficulties living in care homes.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading research charity aiming to defeat dementia. They fund world-class studies that give us the best chance of beating dementia sooner. Their pioneering work focuses on prevention, treatment and cure. This support has helped websites such as www.joindementiaresearch.nihr.ac.uk to energising a movement across society to support, fund and help people (including care home residents) to take part in dementia research. Helping to empower people across all generations through greater understanding of dementia.

The project started as partnership between Alzheimer’s Research UK and a group of staff from the pharmaceutical company Eisai Ltd, who chose to dedicate their time to helping children understand dementia.
